BOF age classes
Age classes are used for Badge Event and higher events; the age you become in the current calendar year is your age class for that year. Hence you stay in one age class from January to December. E.g. My birthday is in March and I shall be 40 so I am W40 from Jan 1st to Dec 31st.

IOF pictorial control descriptions

The most important columns to worry about are C, D and G:

C - for example, you know that you're looking for a clearing (column D tells you this) but there are two shown in the control circle on the map -  this column shows that it's the southeastern-most one you're looking for
D - shows which feature you're looking for - here's a
quick list of the common ones
G - as it's quite a large clearing this column shows you that the control flag is located in the western corner (it could equally show which side of a knoll to look or whether it's the foot or top of a crag you're after for example)
