Drum Castle CURRENTLY OUT OF USE 31/5/09
Due to environmental concerns, access to certain areas of the forest has been
restricted. As a result, the permanent orienteering course at Drum is no longer
operational.
Kirkhill North CURRENTLY OUT OF USE 31/5/09
The permanent orienteering course at Kirkhill North is currently
non-operational. The control posts have been removed for maintenance and the map
is being updated to reflect the changes to the forest over the last few years.
New control sites will be selected and it is hoped that the permanent
orienteering course will be back operational early in 2010 but we're waiting on
the FC to provide control posts.
Bennachie
Semi-Permanent Orienteering Courses
Hilary Quick and Mark Reeve
(both Maroc and FC) have hit on a great idea - unlike normal POCs
where the controls remain fixed year in year out, the POCs at Bennachie
will be changed periodically to keep the interest going. There's an easy
short course for beginners and children and a harder course with long
and short variations for more experienced orienteers, guaranteed to take
you to parts of Bennachie you've never been before (and not a phaser in
sight!) Simply pitch up at the Visitor Centre or contact
Mark
to get a map pack.
We could also use this
facility for informal training events or to practise planning and
controlling. Or see if you can beat Mark's time on the long course to
claim a lavish prize.
